Claire Henley lives in Warwickshire with her husband and two daughters. She has had a varied career as a professional artist and illustrator. After studying graphic design at college in London, she began work as a designer for a textile company in the Midlands. Realising the appeal of a freelance life Claire began designing in a variety of fields such as stationery, giftware and toy manufacture before becoming a book illustrator. To date, she has been responsible for the illustration (and sometimes writing) of over a hundred children’s books.
In the last few years she has painted a series of canvases inspired by her love of the landscape and coastal areas of Britain, using acrylic paint for versatility and strength of colour, and collage for creating a variety of textures.
Salcombe - Claire’s painted this in response to several happy holidays spent in South Devon, as well as her love of sailing. It works very well both within the main and children’s DW ranges.

Bird's Eye View - Inspired by Portscatho in Cornwall. Often dreaming of all the little boats waiting in the harbour, she used acrylic and collage to put her dream into reality!
