Barbara Hedges was my grandma.
She was born in 1920 on a farm in Shropshire, studied poultry husbandry at Harper Adams Agricultural College, and went into the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service where she served at Churchill’s funeral.
She had 3 children and it was only after they had flown the nest that she took up oil painting in her 60’s. She had a very distinctive style, her own take on pointillism.
This was painted in the 1980’s when she was on a summer course in Wiltshire.
I was very close to my Grandmother and it is lovely to see her work alive again, she often wore silk scarves so I am sure she is pleased!
